About

Basak Kalkanci is an Assistant Professor of Operations Management at Georgia Institute of Technology’s Scheller College of Business. She earned her Ph.D in Management Science and Engineering at Stanford University in 2010 and her B.S. in Industrial Engineering at Bogazici University (Turkey) in 2004. She spent 2 years as a postdoctoral associate at MIT before joining GaTech.

Her research interests are in supply chain management, including social and environmental reporting and sustainability, behavioral operations management, supply contracts and the role of information in supply chains. In her research, Basak actively uses empirical methods (such as economic experiments and surveys) together with analytical models to develop managerial and policy insights and recommendations. Her work appeared in leading journals such as Management Science, Operations Research andProduction and Operations Management.
