Areas of Focus
Supply chain and logistics improvements are neither easy nor inexpensive. Better strategic and operational investments and decisions in supply chain and logistics can help to reduce cost by 10% to 40%, and also to grow overall corporate revenues through enhanced customer service and demand management.
In response to such challenges, the Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering’s Supply Chain and Logistics Institute (SCL) established a Center of Focused Research in Supply Chain Strategy. Faculty and students from ISyE bring a wide range of backgrounds and methodology to the supply chain strategy research done in our partnerships with industry. This work involves developing business and operational strategies for: (1) designing, synchronizing and optimizing global supply chains, (2) integrating people, process, and technologies to achieve supply chain objectives, (3) developing competitive advantage from outsourcing and collaboration, and (4) providing supply chain oversight and control. The Center is involved with a variety of related projects.
Designing and controlling efficient and effective supply chains is an extremely important factor in reducing costs and maximizing revenues in companies. In fact, developing strategies for supply chain improvement is also a matter of survival in today’s highly competitive and global environment.
